Two "green" choices in ink!

Standard Eco-ink

"Printed with Eco-ink—vegetable oil-based and containing less than 2% evaporative oils."

These are our PMS-matchable inks that are vegetable oil-based, containing less than 2% volatile organic compounds (VOCs). By using ink that is 98% non-evaporative, polluting emissions are virtually eliminated. More eco-friendly than most soy-based inks.

Metal-free Eco-ink

"Printed with metal-free Eco-ink—vegetable oil-based and specially formulated to be free from environmentally toxic metals"

These carry the high environmental standards of our standard Eco-ink, but go even farther because they're specially formulated to be free* from environmentally toxic metals like copper and barium. Ecoprint convinced the EPA to help fund our research effort to reformulate the basic printing ink pigments, which are the source of most of the metal toxins remaining in conventional inks (including brands marketed as "soy" inks). Cleaner inks mean a cleaner recycling and de-inking process, and less impact on our land and water.

Ecoprint led the research and hired an ink company as a subcontractor. After 18 months of lab and print testing, new non-toxic pigments were found that are compatible with a vegetable oil base, and which reproduce colors well on conventional offset printing machines. *Chemical tests proved that metal content was reduced to trace levels of less than 50 parts per million!
